چکیده
We compute the damping rates of one–particle excitations in a cold ultrarelativistic plasma to leading order in the coupling constant e for three types of interaction: Yukawa coupling to a massless scalar boson, QED and QCD. Damping rates of charged particles in QED and QCD are of order e3μ, while damping rates of other particles are of order e4μ or e4μ log(1/e). We find that the damping rate of an electron or of a quark is constant far from the Fermi surface, and decreases linearly with the excitation energy close to the Fermi surface. This unusual behavior is attributed to the long–range magnetic interactions. ∗Affiliated with CNRS †Laboratoire de la Direction des Sciences de la Matière du Commissariat à l’Energie Atomique 1

We propose a formulation of the long-distance dynamics of gauge theories at finite temperature on a lattice in Minkowski space, including the effects of hard thermal loops on the dynamics of the long wavelength modes. Our approach is based on the dual classical limits of quantum fields as waves and particles in the infrared and ultraviolet limits, respectively. It exhibits manifest invariance u...

We discuss a recent approach to quantum field theoretical path integration on noncommutative geometries which imply UV/IR regularising finite minimal uncertainties in positions and/or momenta. One class of such noncommutative geometries arise as ‘momentum spaces’ over curved spaces, for which we can now give the full set of commutation relations in coordinate free form, based on the Synge world...

In this lecture, we give a brief review of what theorists now know, understand, or guess about static and kinetic properties of quark–gluon plasma. A particular attention is payed to the problem of physical observability, i.e. the physical meaningfulness of various characteristics of QGP discussed in the literature.
